“Taylor Swift didn’t take boyfriend Calvin Harris to the Met Gala because he is actually a really shy guy and does not like all the attention they get when they are together,” a source told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “Taylor is really in love with him and invites him everywhere but he always politely declines all of the glamorous events and award shows.”

It turns out that Calvin just likes to stay low-key with his relationship. “He rarely steps on a carpet with her and instead prefers to keep their relationship private,” the insider continued. “All the attention they get when they step out together freaks him out and he can never get used to it. He does not like to advertise their love.”

However, that means that Taylor is forced to go to major events like the Met Gala alone.
