Police are investigating the death of a 17-year-old boy after he apparently drowned at Tatapouri Beach close to Gisborne.The youngster from Hastings had been scuba diving with a family member as the drowning occurred around 6pm last evening.
Police say the youngster was brought to shore in a boat and attended to by ambulance staff, but he had already died.
More details will be released once next of kin have been advised.
