POLISH police have recovered the metal sign that hung above the former Nazi death camp Auschwitz and detained 5 men suspected of the theft that sparked worldwide condemnation, the state news channel said.The sign, which reads "Arbeit macht frei" ("Work makes you free"), was cut into 3 pieces after being stolen on Friday, the broadcaster reported.
The motivation for the theft was not immediately known.
