Television serial actress Pratyusha Banerjee, famous for her role in the popular serial Balika Vadhu, was found hanging at her house in Mumbai, on Friday.
According to police, the preliminary investigation suggests that the actress committed suicide.

Some reports said the actress was rushed to the Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai, but doctors failed to revive her and declared her dead.

Police said that they are unclear of what led the actress to take the extreme step.
ABP News reported that the actress was under severe depression since the last few days. The reason for her depression is believed to be problems in her relationship with boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh. The two were planning to get married soon.

Bangalore Mirror quoted a friend of the actres saying: “Pratyusha had been living together with Rahul for over a year when he walked out on her. She had borrowed a lot of money from industry friends. She couldn’t pay back the debts or even afford her EMIs.”

Banerjee rose to fame after she appeared in the Hindi television serial Balika Vadhu as Anandi. It is the longest running serial in the world. Later, she participated in the famous reality show, the Bigg Boss 7, but was eliminated.

Her final television appearance was for the serial Simar Ka in which she played the role of Daayan.
BollywoodLife.com quoted one of Pratyusha’s friends and top TV actor Sidharth Shukla, saying, “I also just heard the news and I am shocked. This is indeed very sad and depressing.”

Banerjee had earlier filed an FIR with the Mumbai police alleging that 3 policemen and five other who broke into her house and misbehaved with her.

In the FIR, she had mentioned that the police officers forced into her Laljipada flat and misbehaved with her. They left the flat only after she threatened to go to higher officials.
Back in 2013, Pratyusha had filed another complaint with the police against her boyfriend Makrand Malhotra for threatening her and her family.

Makrand was back then quoted by the Times of India saying, “Pratyusha and I were in a relationship for over two years. Obviously, I had become a bit possessive about her. But I got to know that she is cheating on me. So, I went to her place on Monday to talk it out and end matters once and for all.”
Earlier, the news about her suicide was thought to be an April Fool’s Day joke, but now it has been confirmed true.

Pratyusha’s final WhatsApp update made on March 15 read: “Mar ke bhi munh na tujhse modna.”
